Pengertian
Komunikasi Data adalah proses pengiriman dan penerimaan data dari dua device atau lebih yang terhubung dalam satu jaringan. Jaringan ada dua komunikasi data :
- Intra struktur = untuk jaringan local.
- Satelit = untuk jaringan luas.

Bentuk komunikasi data :
>> Komunikasi Suara :
Komunikasi radio siaran : ke segala arah , bersifat umum.
Komunikasi radio amatir , bersifat hanya dua arah saja. Contoh : handy talkie
Komunikasi radio panggil : jaraknya lebih pendek. Contoh : pager
Komunikasi radio telepon : luas , mendukung dua arah yang bersamaan.

PERANGKAT KERAS KOMUNIKASI DATA
Perangkat Komunikasi :
- DCE ( Data Communication Equipment ) => untuk menyalurkan informasi antar lokasi.
- DTE ( Data Terminal Equipment ) => mangatur masuk-keluarnya informasi ( pemakai-komputer)
DCE dan DTE juga merupakan input/output controller.
Pengatur hubungan peralatan tersebut disebut DCCU ( Data Communication Control Unit ). DCCU merupakan bagian integral yang baku dari system komunikasi data sehingga tidak dapat diidentifikasikan secara terpisah.
Tugas DCCU :
- Membentuk antar muka / interface antar system input/output bus dan modem
- Mengendalikan sinyal antarmuka modem dan konversi level sinyal agar sesuai dengan antar muka
- Mengubah data yang akan dikirimkan menjadi serial dan sebaliknya
- Mengatur error recorveri dengan mekanisme retry
- Melakukan konversi sandi
- Melakukan sinkronisasi karakter baik dengan cara start/stop maupun dengan karakter SYN
- Melakukan bit sinkronisasi untuk controller asinkron
- Melakukan pengujian kesalahan
- Mengendalikan prosedur dengan melacak karakter transmission
DDCU termasuk input/output controller dan pengendali terminal. Terminal adalah lokasi dalam jaringan tempat informasi masuk dan keluar.

Komunikasi radio panggil : jaraknya lebih pendek. Contoh : pager
Komunikasi radio telepon : luas , mendukung dua arah yang bersamaan.

PERANGKAT KERAS KOMUNIKASI DATA
Perangkat Komunikasi :
- DCE ( Data Communication Equipment ) => untuk menyalurkan informasi antar lokasi.
- DTE ( Data Terminal Equipment ) => mangatur masuk-keluarnya informasi ( pemakai-komputer)
DCE dan DTE juga merupakan input/output controller.
Pengatur hubungan peralatan tersebut disebut DCCU ( Data Communication Control Unit ). DCCU merupakan bagian integral yang baku dari system komunikasi data sehingga tidak dapat diidentifikasikan secara terpisah.
Tugas DCCU :
- Membentuk antar muka / interface antar system input/output bus dan modem
- Mengendalikan sinyal antarmuka modem dan konversi level sinyal agar sesuai dengan antar muka
- Mengubah data yang akan dikirimkan menjadi serial dan sebaliknya
- Mengatur error recorveri dengan mekanisme retry
- Melakukan konversi sandi
- Melakukan sinkronisasi karakter baik dengan cara start/stop maupun dengan karakter SYN
- Melakukan bit sinkronisasi untuk controller asinkron
- Melakukan pengujian kesalahan
- Mengendalikan prosedur dengan melacak karakter transmission
DDCU termasuk input/output controller dan pengendali terminal. Terminal adalah lokasi dalam jaringan tempat informasi masuk dan keluar.
